If you did not pass your matric (Grade 12) exams or want to improve your grades, you still have the option to rewrite the exams. Here are the steps you can follow to rewrite your matric exams:

The Amended Senior Certificate’s (Adult Matric) academic year is AUGUST – JUNE and not Jan – Dec.

STEPS TO FOLLOW

Contact your nearest Department of Education office to find out about the dates for the next matric rewrite exams and to obtain the necessary forms and information.

Complete and submit the application form and any other required documentation, such as proof of identity.

Attend any required preparation or orientation sessions for the exams. There are number of orgnisations that can help you prepsre to rewrite your matric. Click here to obtain a list of these organisations.

Write the matric rewrite exams on the scheduled dates

Wait for your results to be released, which typically takes quite a long time..

If you pass the exams, you will receive a new matric certificate, which will reflect your improved grades.


It’s important to note that you may need to meet certain eligibility requirements in order to be allowed to rewrite your matric exams. Additionally, the cost of rewriting the exams, as well as the required preparation, may vary depending on your circumstances.

Amended Senior Certificate (Old Syllabus). This course is aimed at students who want to upgrade their Matric symbols on a full time or part time basis including Saturday classes.
